The annual retreat of the LBI-LVR took place at the Riegersburg on May 18th and 19th, 2015. In preparation for the up-coming SAB meeting, our scientists as well as the representatives of our partners came together in order to discuss the actual research results during five oral presentations and four poster sessions. The scientific programme was rounded off with a hiking tour to the Riegersburg castle.
Our Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Lung Vascular Research participated in Meet Science 2015 on April 16th in the Semper Depot in Vienna joining the other research institutes and clusters of the Ludwig Boltzmann Society. Current research activities were presented to the Austrian Research Community.

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Lung Vascular Research organised a mini-symposium about pulmonary hypertension in the frame of the official opening ceremony of the new LBI premises in the Pulmonology Building of the Medical University of Graz. On 15th January 2015, the Director of the LBI of Lung Vascular Research, Prof. Dr. Andrea Olschewski, introduced the participants into the history of the institute. Special talks about the challenges of pulmonary hypertension were offered by Prof. Dr. Horst Olschewski und Dr. Gabor Kovacs.
Our Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Lung Vascular Research participated in the 10 years celebration of its partner, the Medical University of Graz, which took place on October 17th in the center of Graz. Here, on the Main Place our institute had an information counter. Our colleagues Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andelko Hrzenjak and Dr. Katharina Leithner presented their research and Prof. Horst Olschewski hold a lecture about the last 10 years of pulmonology in Graz.
On 24th and 25th April 2014, our key researchers, Dr. Grazyna Kwapiszewska, Dr. Leigh Marsh, Dr Zoltán Bálint, and Dr. Gabor Kovacs, attended a special negotiation training by Dipl.-Ing. Alan Krempler, MMM Kommunikation in the Hotel Retter in Pöllauberg. This training included the assess criteria for a good negotiation, negotiation behaviors, tactics and strategies as well as the background of predictable effects in human communication and (a)symmetries in communicative situations. To meet patients and discuss the relevance of basic and clinical research is of great importance for clinicians and researchers because it helps to keep our most important goal in mind: to ease the symptoms of patients and to improve their prognosis.
The SAB-Retreat took place on August 26th, 2013 in the Stubenberghaus on the mountain Schöckl close to Graz, Austria. First, the participants were hiking together to the Stubenberghaus. After refreshment, those who planned to have a talk at the SAB-Meeting in September 2013 had the opportunity to introduce their research topics to the audience in order to discuss their results. Besides, in the frame of this meeting 22 posters were presented.
