Post-Doctoral Position available at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Lung Vascular Research
A postdoctoral position is currently available at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Lung Vascular Research (LBI-LVR). Our research group is located in the Centrum for Medical Science in the Campus of Medical University of Graz, Austria. Our institute is searching for a talented PostDoc who would like to contribute to a success of motivated international team. The LBI-LVR is collaborative research centre and combines basic and translational research to study the vasculature in chronic lung diseases.
The current project will focus on studying the molecular mechanisms that underlie the cellular involvement in vascular remodeling in chronic lung disease. The study aims to 1) identify different functional cell phenotypes, 2) determine how expansion and phenotypic switching influences disease initiation and progression, 3) unravel novel cellular pathways. The candidate will work on data-driven models of disease development (model based lung diseases and human lung diseases) using a combination of molecular data and data from the clinical sector. A comparative analysis of genomics data, including those generated from gene expression arrays, Next-generation sequencing, genome-wide association studies and proteomics approaches should be applied.
Highly motivated applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related discipline. Hands-on experience in cell biology, cell signaling, molecular biology and biochemistry is essential. Experience in biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational or systems biology is desirable. A demonstrated publication record, excellent communication skills and fluency in English is required. Position is initially for two years with possibility of extension.
Interested candidates should apply by sending a brief cover letter describing their previous research experience and current interests, curriculum vitae including publication list and the names of two professional references by Dec 1st, 2018, via email to the following address:
