Symposium on Cardiac and Vascular Stiffness

The Symposium on Cardiac and Vascular Stiffness was held in Schloss Seggau, Graz, Austria from September 26th (Friday) – 27th (Saturday) 2014.

This international conference was organized by our institute. We successfully brought together experts from the field of vascular stiffness in order to exchange opinion on the theoretical and practical aspects of systemic and pulmonary stiffness measurements. During the symposium, the participants gained insights into the different angles of stiffness from the presentations of physicians and scientists.

As an additional benefit, young scientists had the opportunity to present their latest data and discuss them with the leading researchers. The topics included characterization of systemic and pulmonary stiffness, inflammation, aging, and compliance. The two days program of the conference consisted of 11 invited talks, 4 selected short talks and 25 posters. The two poster awards, provided by the poster evaluation committee, were awarded to Mario Gerges, (Cardiology, Medical University of Vienna, Austria) and Florian Veit (Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary System, Justus-Liebig University Gießen, Germany).
