7th Graz Lung Days
On November 23 – 24, 2023, the 7th Graz Lung Days took place with over 250 visitors in the auditorium of the Medical University of Graz.
The event was ceremoniously opened by Vice Rector Andreas Leithner and Professors Luka Brcic, Horst Olschewski, Grazyna Kwapiszewska and Gabor Kovacs.
International speakers and experts from preclinical and clinical departments of the Medical University of Graz presented a wide range of topics from the field of lung research.
Various aspects of lung diseases were presented. Pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, oncological issues, but also topics such as Covid and infection prevention were discussed in detail.
The topics presented ranged from molecular mechanisms to clinical applications. The variety of research results presented reflected current developments in lung research and provided participants with valuable insights into the latest findings in this field.
The successful event also included celebrations to mark the 14th anniversary of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Lung Vascular Research. The President of the Ludwig Boltzmann Society, Freyja-Maria Smolle-Jüttner, presented the extraordinarily successful development of the Institute. The scientific successes of the last 14 years were summarized by Andrea Olschewski, Leigh Marsh, Gabor Kovacs, Horst Olschewski and Grazyna Kwapiszewska. Grazyna Kwapiszewska also presented the follow-up structure, the Lung Research Cluster, which will continue to strengthen the focus on lung research at the Medical University of Graz.
