Kick-Off PhD Programme „Immune Modulation in Respiratory Diseases“ (RESPImmun)
On 15 October 2021, the start of the new PhD programme “Immune Modulation in Respiratory Diseases” (RESPImmun) was celebrated at a kick-off event. Thirteen international students started their PhD studies in October and will significantly advance the field of lung research under the guidance of their supervisors (from MeduniGraz and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Lung Vascular Research).
In her address, Grazyna Kwapiszewska-Marsh, Speaker of RESPImmun, looked to the future and introduced the programme and the faculty. The PhD positions funded by the FWF and MedUniGraz are for four years and offer a great opportunity to strengthen Graz internationally as a research location in the increasingly important field of lung research. The event was also a farewell to its successful predecessor “DK-MOLIN”, which Akos Heinemann looked back on in his opening speech. Another highlight of the event was the keynote lecture by Professor Sylvia Knapp (MedUniGraz), who reported on her important research in the field of infection biology with a special focus on lung research.
